EMDR
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. It is a therapy used to help people recover from distressing events and the problems they have caused, like flashbacks, upsetting thoughts or images, depression or anxiety.
What does it involve?
EMDR helps you process the negative images, emotions, beliefs and bodily sensations associated with traumatic memories. It involves side to side eye movements combined with talk therapy in a specific and structured format.
How long does EMDR last?
It is difficult to say how many sessions of EMDR will be needed. Sometimes people only need around 6 sessions, although some clients will require more. Appointments are usually weekly for approximately 90 minutes.
